Missouri Star School Program is an online portal for students earning credits and graduating through the accredited school district operated by the Missouri Division of Youth Services.
Missouri Star School is just one part of the Missouri Approach. The ultimate goal of The Missouri Approach and Missouri DYS is to strengthen and increase the safety of Missouri communities by supporting young people in becoming law-abiding and productive citizens who lead fulfilling lives.
Who Our Program Is For
The Missouri Star School Program addresses the educational needs of court-involved students who cannot, or do not, return to their home school during or after treatment services due to:
Safe School violation
Long-term suspension
Treatment team decision
Frequently, these students are precluded from returning to school; or, returning to regular school is not a viable option.
How We Started
In 2011, DYS partnered with the Local Investment Commission (LINC). Until the Missouri Star School Program was established, the only means Missouri Division of Youth Services (DYS) had for delivering education services to students with limited alternatives was to retain them in a residential or a community resource center.
Missouri Star School Program is recognized as an educational option by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
